jamming out on the treadmill & other weird things I do when I run.

I’m not going to lie, I’m a pretty dainty runner.  Perhaps it’s my years spent dancing prior to picking up a fitness addiction, but I tend to get told I look like a gazelle when I run, which isn’t the worst thing.  For all the gracefulness I seem to possess naturally, I realized today that I love to just shatter it when I’m really into a run.

Today, Boo and I set out on our normal morning run.  She was looking adorable, as per usual (please reference picture, and if you disagree you’re wrong).  I dropped her off at home and amassed another two before calling it a morning and making a quick breakfast and dialing in to a meeting.

Right before lunch, I laced up my shoes for another go around of hitting the gym and finishing out my daily workout (3 miles isn’t enough for me to consider it a workout, to be completely honest).  When I arrived at the gym, the florescent lights and the pulsating red and yellow eminating from the machines got me pumped for no reason what so ever.  I hopped on the treadmill to do a slow warm-up mile and then call it a day, but as soon as I entered my starting pace, I knew I was doomed.

I started out regularly enough, gentily easing into my gazelle stride and then my headphones went rogue and, like a bumbling idiot, I tripped all over myself to put them back in.  Of course, once I managed to get everything in its proper place, “Lose Yourself” by Eminem came on.  In my infinite running wisdom, I decided that Eminem was clearly singing about me losing myself in the music and I started rapping along right with him bobbing my head and singing along as I casually strode along.  I am aware that I definitely probably looked like a crazy person.

Once I realized what I was doing, one would think I would have stopped.  Oh.  Oh no, “Sugar We’re Going Down” by Fallout Boy was next up.  I bumped up the speed and started literally coming up with my own dance moves at this point.  “A loaded God Complex, cock it and pull it” involved a lot of complicated gun motions and fit pumps.  This continued for at least 2 more songs.

I’m not proud of my antics on the treadmill, but I will tell you now that I a) had the time of my life and b) had an awesome run that felt like time was just flying by.  So overall, no, I do not regret my choices and as evidenced by the picture below, I actually recommend it if you’re looking to leave the gym like a swamp monster dripping in sweat.

After rocking out to everything and anything I could get my hands on at the gym, I came home and refueled with some PB2 on toast with a dash of sprinkles.

I’m actually a huge fan of PB2.  If you don’t know what it is, it is peanut butter powder that you either use to put in shakes/smoothies/oatmeal etc. or mix with water to create peanut butter spread.  The only ingredients are peanuts and salt so it’s still all natural.  The reason I like it so much is because I am a PEANUT BUTTER FIEND and have been known to eat a half a jar in one sitting without blinking.  PB2 helps stop that because I have to make it every time I want some and I think it’s easier to spread on toast, honestly.  If you haven’t tried it yet, definitely give it a go.  It comes in chocolate peanut butter or regular and both are down right delicious.
