the hardest step is the first one out the door.

Weekends are never long enough.  I am a firm believer that there should be way more three day weekends in the world, but for now, it’s just a dream.  I had a pretty solid weekend of running errands, baking cookies, and getting some awesome workouts in.  Can I just take a minute to appreciate the fact that spring is beautiful?  It is so easy to take nice weather for granted when living in some place like Houston because it is continually nice.  Having moved to the great white north and enduring a winter with multiple snow days, this spring weather feels deserved.

Because it’s so nice outside, I’m trying to take more and more of my workouts outdoors instead of spending all of my time in the gym.  On Saturday, I knew I needed to get some running in in the morning, but really didn’t want to do it.  I have been a treadmill runner threw and threw for the duration of my running career, but I promised myself that during the month of April I would try to take it outside more often.  Enter Saturday’s run:

Not bad for never running outside.  I’m not going to lie, the last mile was so tough.  My allergies were getting the best of me and I wanted to cough up a lung, but I pushed through and returned home in sweaty style.

Today was Week 9 Legs of Kayla Itsine’s BBG.  Before doing this one, I was weirdly nervous.  Week 6/8 Legs and Cardio had been so tough and I didn’t want to have that same feeling again today.  But I laced up my shoes, grabbed my gear, and set my timer for 7 minutes.

Maybe it was the nice weather, but I crushed it.  I even added in some extra jump roping at the end just to make it fun.  I’m so happy I just got out and did it.  There is a quote that I’ve seen many times that reads “The hardest step is the first one out the door”.  It’s so true.  Both days this weekend I could have just stayed home, made breakfast, and called it a morning, but I didn’t.  I took that first step and got it done.

Just take the first step.  You’ll be one step closer to reaching your goal.
