crazy monday calls for crazy workout pants.

Daylight Savings Time has not been kind.  After finally getting my jetlag and illness shaken off from my Vegas trip, it was oh so kind of the world to throw Daylight Savings into the mix this week.  When my alarm went off this morning, I swiftly said “nope” and continued to snooze.  Please note that this is a big deal for me as I am 100%, through and through a morning person.  Needless to say, when I actually got out of bed, I was in dire need of a pick-me-up.  And because I am a crazy creature of habit, especially when it comes to food things, I opted for my old favorite:

  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • all the cinnamon and sprinkles your heart desires

I’m not even a little bit mad at my decision.  Just look at how happy that bowl is.  After breakfast, I got to work and was instantly motivated to power through my morning.  That is until I hit a snag right before I was off to the gym.  Pick-me-up part two? My Nike crazy pants.  No shame at all in the gym.  One of my trainer friends even commented on them and let me tell you, they really did help me go full speed ahead on my run.

With the motivating mantra that this was only going to take an hour of my day added in (even though I spent much longer than that…whoops), I was ready to go.  I pumped out 4 miles and did an elliptical cooldown while watching Chopped.  Today’s run was fueled solely by Nicki Minaj’s song “Turn Me On”.  An oldie, but an insanely goody.  I have been known to listen to one track for an entire run, no matter what the mileage is.  I once listened to only one song for 6 miles straight.  How?  I couldn’t tell you, but today was one of those days.  Do any of you ever get stuck in a running song vortex?  Maybe it has to do with my previous post and disengaging my brain.  After a brain full of Nicki tunes and sore, sore, sore legs, I can’t wait to just take a load off tonight and stretch.  Hope you all had as motivated Monday as I did!
